Portrait of a Waterfall

Instead of the usual broad play-by-play of the day, we’ll do a focused look at the Mardalsfossen, Northern Europe’s highest waterfall and just an overall good lookin’ piece.
On our way in, we tracked it for the better part of an hour as we skirted the fjord-like-lake Eikesdalsvatnet, our home lake for the next two nights. Then in the evening we hiked ~6-7 miles, walking right up to the base of the falls.
It seems that we can never see enough waterfalls. I’m curious why that is. Perhaps it’s a genetically-encoded response to the likelihood that water from a gushing waterfall will be safer to drink, compared to stagnant pools and even lakes. Or maybe we just like pretty things.

I try to stick to the rivers and lakes that I’m used to… but I guess sometimes you gotta have it your way or nothing at all.
Ben still doesn’t know that song…sigh.
Oh geeze, that one totally went over my head.
