Return to Norway

Late last night and into this morning we took the red-eye out of Reykjavik and arrived in Oslo (with red eyes). We were thrilled to see Geir strolling towards us at the airport just as we cleared customs.
After short drive to their flat, some hugs, and a quick bite to eat, Geir went to work and we went to bed to try to catch up on some sleep.
After we woke up we chatted for awhile with Grethe and she prepared a great meal for us. We took the opportunity to start planning for our week out in Norway.

Once everyone was satisfied that we’d not likely end up at the bottom of a fjord, we took a drive down to the water and Ben got some driving tips from Geir. There were solstice/midsommar celebrations going on. Including what we think was probably a Tom Waits cover band named “Some Waits”.
(I guess here’s a good opportunity to post a picture from our Hellissandur AirBnb, total coincidence)

After that we went for a nice evening walk and explored a bit. This was the extent of our smiling, however.

Still tired, we headed home and prepared to depart the next morning.
(actually, Liz passed out and Ben wrote four blog posts, for the record)
