Woke up. Got out of bed. Realized it was 10:30 AM — woops!
We’re sleeping really, really well lately. Not sure what’s going on but also not complaining.
By the time we had our coffee and muesli it was ‘pert (or is it pert’?) near lunch time and we were headed down the big hill to Trondheim. It was threatening rain showers all day, but really it ended up being mostly scattered sun and clouds. Beautiful really.
We took a nice walking tour of the central region of the city. Nothing organized, just loosely following some markers on the city. Liz found this neat group of exercise equipment and found it was easier to engage with the contraption than to disengage.
I found my own new plaything near the Hurtigruten ferry docks.
Here, we broke for lunch — more lefse and lompen and powerbars and fruit rollups.
Then for our most curated experience of the day, we hit up the Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum, where we found exhibits like “what wood would” along with a pretty wide variety of other items.
In the basement we found this exhibit of rainwear, over the years. Disturbingly apropos.
Then we toured the big ol’ Nidaros Cathedral and related out-buildings. Saw some crown jewels and some artifacts. It was a pretty fine time.
By this time we were getting hungry, so we grabbed some supplies and headed back up the hill to make dinner, relax, and hit the hay. Big day back on the road tomorrow and we’re leaving early!
Just before we went to bed, our host dropped in and gave us two bowls of fresh Norwegian strawberries (she called that out). She and her husband were quite a treat.
