Just a recap, for those keeping track: as of Thursday morning we had 375 miles in over 7 days of riding (two rest days). We’ll take it.Bright and early at the crack of 10am, we headed out from the cottage in Cambridge, WI and began winding our way back into the Kettles and to our midpoint on the two-day trek back home, Ledge County Park (click through the link to see some great pictures and info), just east of Horicon, WI. The route was 52 miles through beautiful countryside. It would be considered a non-epic day by any standard, and that was just fine. We enjoyed the best roads and route of the trip so far and a leisurely pace with a bit of a southerly tailwind too. Perfect.
We stopped in Horicon to replenish supplies, where we picked up a 1L bottle of Coke, 10lbs of ice and some snacks (Dill Pickle Potato Chips). These combined with a flask of brown fluid (supplied by Ed) formed a delicious beverage.
Tomorrow we take our final leg of the journey; we’ll be on familiar roads for the majority of the route and it even looks like we’ll have a tailwind. We’re excited to be heading home.
