Let it be said that I am very, very lucky. Not too many people get the opportunity to go on a month-long vacation with their best friend in the world.
Not only that but the preparations for the vacation are going well and are not rushed. In fact, we’re leaving a day early and staging our departure from Madison. Once we pull out the driveway on Monday with our backpacks packed, we still have over 24 hrs to make our way to O’Hare for our ORD-DUB-AMS journey.
Just rode my last group ride this morning (44 miles, 18mph with the ‘Tosa Spokesmen) and bid adieu (for now) to my orange bike, the dream cycle. I’m spoiled to be riding that, particularly when I notice other rider’s mechanical difficulties which I am fortunate not to have. I was a reasonably competent mechanic before I started working at SBC, but there’s no doubt I’ve improved since then and I like to think that my bikes show it — and reflect well on the shop too.
Yesterday we had a nice little family reunion over at Blue Harbor with the cool side of the family. I guess you’ve got it pretty good when people pay money to vacation in the area in which you live. It doesn’t say much for our housekeeping that they never come visit us at home though… I guess we do need to work on that!
Speaking of the house, we have a fantastic house-sitter and pet-sitter for the duration. That truly is a luxury that relieves a lot of our stress.
So yes, I’m pretty darn lucky and any problems I have are self-inflicted — for the most part.
Bon Voyage, Buddies! I look forward to following your your adventures! I hope you both have a fantastic time!
: ) Doing what you love with someone you love is the definition of happiness, isn’t it?
no doubt! thanks for the well wishes.
